Xhenet Aliu’s book Domesticated Wild Things won the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fiction. And no wonder. It’s weird, honest, insightful, and full of those situations that define characters. A girl caught between a bad situation she understands and a good situation she doesn’t. A woman who struggles to survive and own her anger. A gay wrestler struggling to do the right thing. A mother who can’t bring herself to love enough. A boy who understands that the way we treat bugs is just the beginning.
We are super lucky to have her coming to Wright State this Wednesday, March 26. She’ll be reading at 6:00 in the Pathfinder Lounge, Student Union. If you can make it, I guarantee you’ll be glad.
