Writing panel at WSU today

When I had my daughter I felt this immense pressure to breastfeed, and I kept going every day to see this lactation consultant, Frankie, at the hospital. Awash in tears, my self-concept at an all-time low, my new daughter screaming, I asked Frankie, “if this is so natural, why is it so hard?” and Frankie said, “Because it is.”

I think about that a lot when I sit down to write.

I’ll be on a panel at Wright State today with fellow writers Byron Crews and Brady Allen at 12:20 in 286 Millett. We’ll be spilling all our secrets about writing and how to keep going when you want to stop, ie, how to trick yourself into doing what you say you really want to do.
