Ohio Arts Council Award
The biggest THANK YOU ever to the Ohio Arts Council for honoring me with an Individual Excellence Award! I submitted a story I wrote over the summer called “Protégé” about a woman up for a large academic grant who suspects her mentor might not be the stand-up guy she thinks he is, but admitting that could cost her the grant.
I’ve been concentrating on novels for the past few years so it’s been awhile since I’d written a short story. It was humbling to realize that writing stories was harder and more complicated than I remembered (grass is greener, anyone?), which made it that much more rewarding knowing the story resonated with others. If you’d like to read it, the story is in the collection Myopic Duplicity, available on Kindle and Audible and edited by the wonderful Jeff Circle.
Thank you so much to the OAC. This is truly an honor!
