On NBC Nightly News the other night, Brian Williams said, “today the department of energy put out a memo that said to all the furloughed employees, you can go ahead [and look for other work], and they recommend finding positions with coffee houses, gift shops, clothing, department stores. This is to make money as a second job, teaching things like yoga or foreign languages, and creative writing.”
Um. I’m sure these employees are so thankful for the helpful advice, that the department of energy has helped them see this total disaster as a positive opportunity.
And I wish I’d known I didn’t have to spend all those years in a PhD program when I could have just wished for the government to shut down.
